Wulai Old Street

It is situated between Wulai Street, Pubu Road, and Huanshan Road. The stores have uniform signage and a very tidy appearance. Visitors can sample aboriginal-style mountain cuisine, including charcoal-roasted boar meat, hot spring eggs, Yuetao rice, bamboo rice, maqaw cuisine, bird-nest fern, and eschalot, all of which are aboriginal-style dishes that are rarely found elsewhere. In addition, there are also special products such as millet wine and millet mochi, which are suitable for giving to friends and relatives as souvenirs. At the same time, you can view performances of indigenous songs and dances and experience the aboriginals’ vigor and enthusiasm. When it comes to Wulai, hot springs come to mind. In fact, in the Atayal language, it means a steamy spring. Whether it was the Atayal people who came first, or the Han Chinese and Japanese who came later, they all fell in love with the hot springs that can improve their beauty and gastrointestinal diseases. There are many hot spring inns on the old street.

Wulai Atayal Museum

In the past, Wulai was the tribe where the Atayal people lived and were the real owner of Wulai, so outsiders should know more about this tribe and understand their history and way of life. The establishment of the Museum of Atayal Ethnicity in Wulai, the only mountainous area in New Taipei City, is particularly meaningful. In the carefully curated exhibit, the food, clothing, and housing of the Atayal people and their cultural philosophy are presented. Therefore, the Atayal Museum is an introduction to the history and life of the Atayal people. The history of face tattooing, for example, is a very solemn rite of passage for a young Atayal girl, who must be able to weave cloth in order to qualify for face tattooing, and only if she has a face tattoo will she be proposed for marriage. Note: Weaving workshop is subject to a fee/Admission: Free admission

Wulai Scenic Train
In the early days, the Wulai trains were used to transport timber from the mountain forests, and after the logging industry disappeared, they were used to transport tourists. It was only in 1963 that it was transformed into a cute train to carry tourists. Although the design of the train is not very luxurious, don’t underestimate it. It is actually quite fast. The distance between the departure station and the waterfall station is approximately 1.6 kilometers, but it takes only a little while to reach the terminal. Through the open window panels, you can enjoy the green forest scenery along the route. The Lovers’ Trail was carved out along the Nanshi Valley and runs parallel to the train track. It is recommended to take the train up the mountain, and then take the Lovers’ Trail back to Lansheng Bridge when you get off the mountain. With a mountain wall on one side and a stream on the other, visitors can breathe fresh air and enjoy negative ions through this light exercise, which is a very relaxing form of recreation.

Address: At the intersection of Lansheng Bridge and Wenquan Road Intersection in    Wulai District, New Taipei City

Neidong National Forest Recreation Area

The Nanshi River flows through the park and the Naidong River flows in from the south, and because they are dammed, a series of large and small mountain waterfalls have formed. Among them is the Xinxian Falls, also known as the “Xinxian Hidden Waterfall,” also known as the Neidong Falls or the Wawagu Falls. With three distinct tiers and a mighty torrent of water, this waterfall is truly impressive. On high ground on both sides of the waterfall, there are well-designed viewing platforms, seating, and an outdoor classroom where you can not only enjoy the view of the waterfall, but also the anions-induced relaxation.
